It used to be believed that there was such a thing as a stress ulcer, caused by chronic emotional stress and doctors used to tell patients with ulcers to reduce their stress levels.
But patients who took steps to reduce the stress in their lives saw no improvement in their stress ulcer. Now it is known that emotional stress does not cause ulcers but it may make them worse.
Bacteria have been shown to cause a stress ulcer, which is good news to the millions of people with a stress ulcer because they can be cured simply by taking a dose of antibiotics.
Any suggestions?
