I think each person being treated for PTSD should be given a series of tests to determine their reaction to the active med used. How does it affect the heart rate, kidneys, breathingetc. Then and only then should the brain be tested to find the effect on the actual problem as described by both the vet and the doctor. Does the med given change the brain activity or increase production of activity that addresses the section of the brain under duress whenever attacks occurr? In my own case only one area is currently being addresses...nightmares. The current treatment seems to lower the intensity thus giving some much needed sleep. However, we have not yet looked at the effect on my waking hours and triggers that ignite many adverse reactions when I am around people. Perhaps the first step would be to wear monitors to establish a short baseline. This would need to include voice capability I don't know id we are at the mdeical level to obtain a baseline but I think it should be very detailed to include a minute by minute description of several days for comparrison. Food, friends, activity, liquids, etc but in the persons normal daily living and working surroundings not hospital grounds. Then begin to have sessions with the psych doctors.
