Young pitching, especially in the AL, has been the story lately(see the new edition of Sports Illustrated featuring none other than Justin Verlander on the cover) and with the dominating performances of these youthful phenoms, the AL Rookie of the Year is definitely going to be a pitcher, but who? Papelbon in Boston? Verlander or Zumaya from Detroit? Liriano of Minnesota? Jered Weaver with the Angels? Any others I may have missed?
The only name I can come up with off the top of my head for the NL is Prince Fielder. The kid has shown he can not only hit but he can hit for power.
My two choices are: Verlander(Detroit) for the AL and Fielder(Milwaukee) for the NL.
Anyone else have an opinion or can think of more NL candidates?
