Teams prepared to face the uncapped storm:
1. San Diego Chargers- core group is young with many starters who have been to the Pro Bowl. Only 4 would qualify for FA in 2010
2. Dallas Cowboys-Jerry Jones has been locking up his starters in case of an uncapped year
3. Cleveland Browns-only 4 starters will be FA in 2010
4. Philadelphia Eagles-the Eagles have been worried about an uncapped year for along time and started signing long term deals with their top young players years ago.
5. Indianapolis Colts-they will be contenders as long as Peyton Manning is around and there is no reason to think his play will drop off after 2010 when he will be 34. Only two others starters could become FA
Teams not prepared to face the storm:
1. New England Patriots-Tom Brady is signed through 2010 so they dont have any worries there. But the defense coud be one of the hardest hit. The Pats have one of the oldest starting defenses in the league. It might be hard to find replacements in a limited FA market over the next two seasons.
2. Denver Broncos-they are paying the price for relying too much on FA and not on the draft.
3. Detroit Lions-teams with older quarterbacks could be in trouble because no top quarterback will hit the FA market. Kitna will be 37 in 2010
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- quarterback needs again. Garcia is 38 and the Bucs have no long term solution at quarterback
5. Washington Redskins-11 of their 22 starters are in their 30's. With more teams preparing for an uncapped year finding replacements will become harder and harder.
