Default Sleep paralysis

Has been happening to me since I was a kid. Some say its due to lucid dreaming which i do a lot, some say its due laying on your back, which i never do, some say its because your psycic, some say its something holding you down, whether its alien or ghost, some say its just a defense mechanism from waking up due to dreaming. Regardless unless its choice 1, I don't think it's normal for me to have been doing it all my life.

If its not due to lucid dreaming which wud cause harm towards me if this defense mechanism didn't exsist I want to know if i should some how prevent this from happening

Any suggestions or opinions?
