Here is my story, I have been gone from the boards for a while so I will give an update.
I am 31y/o male with Severe Sleep Apnea (115 RDI). I am 6'3" and 310 pounds now, I have lost 60-70 lbs in the last year.
I had my first and only sleep study about 4 years ago and have a AutoCPAP
(AUTO 10-16cm H20). I used to be on a straight cpap at 16 or 18. I now average 10-11cm on most nights on my autotitrating unit since losing weight.
My girlfriend recommended a good ENT for me to explore surgical options since I still have Excess Daytime Sleepiness.
I went to see the ENT today and he is suggesting a UPPP, Tonsils/Adenoids, Septoplasty for my Deviated Septum and a Base of Tongue Reduction
He said that my insurance should cover everything but the Base of Tongue reduction may not be covered and could be done for 1500 at the time I do the other surgery.
I was just wondering what experience others have had in the surgical arena and the outcomes.... PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS
