Default Sexual Energy, Masturbation, and other random thoughts

Seems like a good enough heading: "Sexual Energy, Masturbation, and other random thoughts"

That's what I'm thinking about on the first Saturday morning of 2004. I need a girlfriend.

On the issue of sexual energy, I read a few books some years ago by Master Mantak Chia. Along with his wife, Maneewan Chia, he has written several books on the subject of cultivating the vital life energy, "chi", and specifically cultivating and recirculating sexual energy in both men and women. Ideally (and in what seems consistent with some ideas in Tantric lovemaking, Kama Sutra, etc.) sexual energy is to be shared and exchanged between a man and woman during lovemaking.

There is, according to the Chinese philosophy, a "microcosmic orbit", a channel that begins at the navel and runs down through the sexual center, up the spine to the crown of the head, down the front of the body and the energy, ideally, is ever circulating. This is the main energy channel in the body, though there are others, and many other accupuncture points in the body along these channels. Chia's books teach the cultivation of sexual energy and guiding it through the body - not only for sex but for healing as well - and storing it at the center of the body, the navel. (Meditation has been criticized many times in the past as "Contemplating one's navel" and it's possibly from this idea, that the navel, the origin of life, is the center and storage point of the vital life energy). Ponder that.
