Default when should kids pay rent?

ok heres the deal. my younger brother just turned 18 a month ago and my mom told him he needs to start paying some rent now that hes an "adult" and has a job. but he dosnt seem to think he needs to. im 20 and i dropped out of high school when i was in 9th grade so ive been paying sense about that time. but ive had a job sense before that to. anyway hes about to graduate an then hes going to community college i guess.. i dont know but its a local college. so i guess my main question here is for those of you with kids who are 18+ and live at home do you make them pay rent or as long as there in school do you not worry about it or do you not make them pay at all.

also its single mom with 4 kids..

thanks for any info.
