Nice list.

I would also add:
11. Social Bookmarking/networking sites, such as StumbleUpon, Digg, etc
12. Paid advertising
13. Contests, giveaways, etc

traffic from stumbleupon is easy to get but it is quite useless. I can easily get 500 uniques to a page from stumble but that traffic would NOT convert to anything - the waste of bandwidth... IMHO

All situations are different... I wouldn't say "useless", but Stumble traffic isn't worth as much as targeted. I do get some conversions and it takes a lot less effort to get the traffic too. Should definitely not be the main marketing plan though.

Musicplace.co.nr

If site is put on the right category, the content is attractive, and you can generate a few thumbs-ups, then you could potentially get to the high 100's within the first 48 hours. This is my experience with a relevant site, the first time I stumbled it (one stumble = answer to your question). I did wait until I had a pretty attractive piece of content before I did this. In my case, my site was a .org where I have a public domain ecology type project, it has no advertisement. But, commercial sites are encouraged by stumbleupon as long as their content is the right kind of content for the category.

create a banner exchange for your niche website content and direct overflow traffic to your site. spend all efforts getting your exchange productive. watch visitors and $$ skyrocket. It is relatively easier to get 25-50 high quality + high traffic sites in the exchange than it is to get 2000+ uniques / day
