Warrant
This is very similar to an option. The holder of the warrant is given the right to choose to purchase a security at a later date. The holder does not need to purchase it if they do not wish to do so. Unlike an option, a warrent is issued solely by the company itself. Warrants are usually for a longer term then options but this is not always the case.
