Default Stress and eating

We live in a stressful environment, and we often eat as a way of dealing with stress or as a way to calm ourselves. The following are some questions to consider if you eat to deal with stress.

* Have you noticed a change in your eating or weight since a change occurred in your stress level/lifestyle?
* Do you eat when you are not hungry or when you are full?
* Do you eat (or cook) to avoid dealing with a stressful situation?
* Do you find food very soothing?
* Do you use food as a reward? (For example, "That was really a tough job/assignment/argument. I need some ice cream/candy/popcorn!")

If you find that you eat because of stress, try the following:

* Take a short relaxation break.
* Take time to stop and think about what is really bothering you and how you could deal with it.
* Change what you're doing. Take a short walk down the hall or around the block.
* Call a friend.
* If you are truly hungry, reach for a healthy meal or snack. Focus on the experience of eating and enjoy your food.

That's very interesting, very.

When i am under stress, and trust me it happens....Z I lose weight as a result as stress itself eats at you. I eat less, i don't have an appetite.

I do appreciate "depression" seems to be the major key of what i have read that results in "pigging out"... gaining weight and yes, if overly depressed, i eat all the wrong foods to make me feel better.

Now, pasta herrings, garlic bread, garlic bread got to love that.. Savory, black olives are good as well... Pasta, not often, too fattening, sounds like a recipe for someone whom has starved herself...... if you've over ordered...... secrets out.

No ...well i havent starved myself , but i wiegh about 8 stone 4 pound , lucky really as it seems to have stayed the same all of my adult life but i eat less perhaps two small meals a day the week before , during and after a period , so i drop a few pounds . The are some fantastic websites in the UK that specialize in authentic, Italian , Greek , Spanish food , and have all the great cooking utensils and even the sweets and buscuits ...for a treat its nice to order a little comething now and again . The herrings ! yes i love sweet marinated herrings , i do a little garlic bread and eat it warm with bitesize pieces of marinated herrings...not all the time but they keep in the frigde in the marinade . Pasta ...yes now and again and i eat it a little bit more near the time of a period in the hope it will compensate for loosing a couple of pounds with hormonal changes. The hormonal changes make me feel a little nausea . But i never starve myself ,and never have done i eat good balanced diet i love all salads fish , meats and eat rocket on everything ...i grow all varieties of herbs and peppers in the garden ..part of the reason i do loose some pounds always working in the garden planting .

Well that's two of us then, neither eat when we are stressed.

I was joking about the starving yourself, all that garlic bread that won't now fit in your fridge.

But yes, i to love rocket, and eat it daily, grow all those things as well, nothing better than fresh and tasty which frankly isn't the same in the green grocers.

I find it interesting that's all that people eat from Stress, as i thought it was the opposite.

As you have stated you don't either? Maybe there is some truth..

It would be interesting to see what someone else thought.

All the TV shows on overweight people show that they eat on depression and can't stop eating.

Guess that was the point i was trying to make..
