This really is extraordinary and appalling. It reminds us that things are very much worse for people with MH issues in other parts of the world.
The story appeared (or I saw it) in The Times on 6th June and came at the end of an article about the Olympics. The relevant sentences read...
>>The authorities this week issued a list of 57 “do's and dont's” for the Games, cautioning that possession of a ticket did not guarantee a visa. Those with mental health problems, sexually transmitted diseases or contagious conditions will be barred - along with prostitutes and terrorists.<<
'The authorities' referred to are the Chinese Government. So we are the same as people with infectious diseases (maybe depression has become contagious), prostitutes and terrorists .
I have written to the paper (don't expect it will be published) but am wondering what else to do. I suppose I should contact my MP (except I - well do not have a high opinion of him to be polite)? Maybe write to the British Olympic people? Anyone got any good ideas about how we could protest about this truly shocking and appalling example of stigmatisation?
