Default Bleach/Dye

About 2 months ago I bleached my hair twice in the same day.... It was kind of orgish yellow, so I dyed it an ash blonde a couple days later. Well, that gave it a grayish green tint and I really didn't like that! So I took the color back out. I used vitamin C mixed with shampoo. I figured I was in a real mess because the bleach job came out so aweful and the dye ended up a terrible color, but, once my hair dried after taking the dye out my bleached hair was a nice golden blonde color and it was all pretty even!! Thank God!! Now however, my roots are growing out and I don't know what to do with them to get them to match the rest of my hair. At this point I would like to make my blonde color all around lighter, so I was thinking about bleaching my roots with Clairol Born Blonde, letting that sit for a while and then adding the color to the rest of my hair for like 10 minutes or so. I don't know if that will work or just damage my hair terribly. Bleach on bleach is scary... My hair was damaged after I processed it so much the first time. But it looks pretty healthy now. Any suggestions?
