After reading about minoxidil on this forum, I was ready and set to buy Rogaine at the drug store today, when I noticed that the packaging clearly stated that it is only intended for use on the vertex, and not the frontal part of the scalp/hairline. Currently I am more concerned about trying to curb my hairline from receding, as my vertex still seems to have a healthy amount of hair.
Should I use rogaine anyway? My father is completely bald, so I expect that I'll need to start worrying about the vertex at some point. But is there any product that works for regaining hair at the front of the scalp or hairline? I'm 22 years old by the way. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Kelvy,
Did you ever receive a response for this post? I am wondering the same thing as well - what can I use for non-vertex balding/receding. Thanks in advance for your response. |

Hi Kelvy,
I've just started using Rogaine myself as my hair is thinning both at the vertex and the front. I read up on it and learned that while it's much less effective at the front, it's still possible to see results. I suspect that the manufacturer is being conservative, and rightfully so, by avoiding making optimistic claims about its effectiveness. Wikipedia has an excellent entry on male pattern baldness, that includes a discussion of the impact of diet. You may want to consider it.
