Default Don't forget about the Back Muscles

Be sure to incorporate back exercises in to your workouts. Too many people go to the gym and jump on the bench press or chest press machine but forget all about the back. Working your back improves your posture. Working your back also makes your waist look smaller. Back exercises give you the v-taper. This is a very important part of the body. On my back Days I do hamstrings as well.

Sample Exercises for the back

Pull-ups

Modified pulls on smith machine

Seated Rows

Dumbbell/Barbell rows

T-Bar Row

Lat Pull down

Dead lifts (also works the hamstrings)

Reverse Flies (rear Delts)

Dumbbell pull overs

I welcome any questions you may have about this.

Yeah thanks, I mostly do pull ups at varied grip widths for my back and have had some great results especially with a waist chain to add extra weight. I do all my training at home using 99% body resistance exercises so machines are not in my toolkit. I also do standing military press alternating from in front of the head to behind the head reps. This helps develop your upper back too doesn't it?

Any type of shoulder press works your shoulders. Be should to do reverse flies and lateral raises. Most guys have great front delts because of pressing movements but lack rear and side delts. My sure you get your dead lifts in (a great overall movement for the back, hamstrings and traps). It's hard to working your back without weights. Try to get some dumbbells to do rows and pull overs.

Ok thanks. I will get myself a straight bar for dead lifts and about 150 lbs of weight, that should carry me forward for quite some time.. I already have dumbbells so I will hook them up and add some rows to my routine..

Shou,
I just wanted to say that I have also used a chain in my pull up exercises and it is an excellent tool!

Good post. A lot of people skip working their back because they are less concerned about asthetics of their back. But working the back does improve the look of the overall physqiue, plus keeping those back muscles strong is so important.
