Default NFS Carbon + Vista = problems

I just bought NFS Carbon (in other words, it's a legit copy with serial and all..). Instalation completes fine, no problems yet. Im running vista home premium, and when I trie to start Carbon I only reach the EA intro at the very beginning before the error "NFSC.exe has stopped working" and I have to close the program. I have tried to run it in compability mode for WinXP SP2 as well as run as admin, but this doesn't help..

My computer is brand new with c2d 2GHZ, go7600 and 1GB ram, so it fullfils the requirements perfectly.. And I really looked foreward to this game.

Got this error while reinstaling the game. "Instalation cannot continue because this game requires DirectX o or higher to be installed on your system." And after intstaling DirectX, I could complete the instalation again with the same problems I faced earlier. "NFSC.exe has stopped working".
