Hi I'm a 49 year old male, 1 and a half years ago I had a heart attack, my HDL cholesterol was low causing plaque buildup in one of my heart aerteries causing a heart attack. At the time of the heart attack my LDL was at 3.7 and LDL was at .4, I was placed on. 10 mg of Lipitor and had no problems with erectile dysfunction. My cardiologist decided to increase the lipitor to 20 mg, 6 weeks later I could barely get an erection. We then reduced the Lipitor back to 10mg, by the following day I had sensation back in my penis and had somewhat of an erection, I'm happy to report its been a month and all feeling and sensation has returned, the funny thing is my doctor thought I was nuts when - approached him about the Lipitor causing the erectile dysfunction he attributed it to my aerterailsclerosis, so if your in the same boat as me and your on Lipitor and having the same problem I'm hoping I can help someone advert the headache I had. Cheers

Since there are other medications available, lipitor and impotence can be warded off by taking natural substances to cure cholesterol related problems which will benefit the body and also not cause sexual dysfunctions.
But before taking any medicine , please concern with your doctor for that product and take all the information and side effect for that product .. |

Ok, I have an experience too that I will share. I'm 44, a little overweight and had high cholesterol...Who doesn't. So my MD prescribed 40 mg Lipitor in March of 2008. I came back a month later and he asked if there were any side effects, and I said no, other than maybe I felt like I peed more often. I continued using Lipitor. During that year, I had (almost immediately now that think back) episodes of erectile dysfunction. The first few times it happened you discard them under the old "maybe I drank too much" or "must've had an off day" rules. I even thought at other times that maybe I am just getting older, and that this was the cause. I ended up taking Lipitor for a year before I made the connection. The funny thing was that during that year (most of 08 and part of 09), I had some very good, long lasting erections as well as "limp-ons", so I didn't ring the alarm bell right away.
February of 2008 I went to my MD and told him all this. He didn't really believe me, but was willing to humor me, so we agreed that I quit taking the statin drug Lipitor and come back in 3 months. That'll be in May. Two weeks after I quit taking Lipitor I felt that I had been right: My erections were already much harder, much longer. I was happy. This lasted for about a month until last week when I once again experienced erectile dysfunction. So now I am thinking "maybe it was, maybe it wasn't". Do any of you have any idea how long this drug affects the sex drive after you quit taking it? |
