Default Cinnamon & Diabetes

I have been type 2 for 15 years. I have been very well controlled for most of that time. I eat a well balanced diet. Make my own wholemeal/granery bread, my own yoghurt, and yoghurt cheese. I eat plenty of fresh fruit, veg,& oily fish.
The only thing I dont do is get enough exercise.
My blood sugars have increased over the last year, and I have been told I may have to go on insulin. This would be very impractical for me because I drive a Taxi for a living, and the local council won't license me until my doctor can certify that I havn't had a hypo for a year.
So I intend to add a measured dose of cinnamon to my diet to see if it will help. Any advice on safe dosage etc. or any other constructive advice/support would be great, but please NO ATKINS
