Default how to get diabetets- devices as an visitor of the uk

Being german I`m planning to spend a while in the UK to visit
a friend and to do a bit "work and travel"
in order to improve my language skills and enjoy my freedom as an undergraduate
SInce I`m a diabetic (type 1) I´m dependent on insulin, needles and all those devices.. I haven`t found the information I`m looking for yet such as how does the delivery of diabetes-supplies function in the UK and what does it cost for the diabetic, do I have to be a citizen of the UK to use the local systems etc?
I´m very thankful for a little
explanation...as it really concerns me and I don`t want to let my disease dominate my plans
