Default Is it worth getting tested?

I was wondering whether it's worth speaking to my GP about diabetes/pre-diabetes? A bit of family history:

My mother had gestational diabetes
My maternal aunt had Type 2 diabetes
My great-grandmother had Type 1 diabetes
My niece has just been diagnosed today with Type 1 diabetes
I have two cousins with diabetes, but I'm not sure if it's Type 1 or Type 2.

I am currently a fair bit overweight (BMI 28) and have been for as long as I can remember.

Not sure whether I should go to see my doctor about this, or if I'm getting worried about nothing?

Hope someone can help!
