Default Cardio for a Hardgainer

Hi,
I currently lift every other day and would like to add some cardio on my off days. I really like rowing, so that would be my exercise of choice. Since I'm a hardgainer, I'm concerned that rowing would hinder any upper body muscle gains. Would rowing on off days be advisable, or should I do something else, like jumping rope, or sprints?
